A blog dedicated to Killington, VT

In July 2008, Killington Resort launched the Killington Insider blog and it was great! The blog provided an inside look at Killington’s operations, plans, news and more. They posted photos and videos of work being done on the mountain, insider updates and often broke a lot of Killington news. It became a great resource to keep up on the latest happenings from Killington and was updated by Tom Horrocks, Killington’s Communications Manager, and Chris Danforth, Killington’s Marketing Manager.
Then, just as peak season hit, the blog updates stopped coming. From February 6, 2009, to June 15, 2009, there wasn’t a single update? Was everyone too busy skiing?
Well, the good news is that the blog is back and the updates keep coming. From June 15 through today, they have posted 35 updates. Not too shabby considering it is technically the off-season. I just wanted to say congratulations to the Killington team for their efforts, and I hope they continue the blog all season long.

The Killington Insider reports today that more bump runs are coming to Killington this season. Killington has long been a favorite destination for mogul skiers, and now there are even more reasons to visit.
Lower Vertigo will see the addition of a seeded mogul run and they’ll also be looking at options for more natural bumps on classic runs like Outer Limits, Superstar and Ovation.

TechCrunch is reporting that Liftopia has raised another $1 million in venture capital.
Liftopia provides variable ski resort ticket pricing through its web site. Basically, they allow people to purchase reduced price lift tickets for off-peak days. They allow the resorts to change the price based on how much traffic they anticipate seeing on the slopes. Rather than just set prices for different time periods, they can actually change their prices on a day-to-day basis.
The good news for all of us is that Killington has signed on this year (Stowe too). That means there is yet another avenue for us to find discounted lift tickets.
Killington also recently announced their K50 discounted lift tickets. This deal allows you to buy up to four $50 lift tickets with some blackout days. Better hurry on this one though as the offer expires on October 15.
