Killington Resort Keeps Churning Out Great Promotional Videos

October 9, 2009 No comments yet

Killington Resort has really turned to social media to help promote themselves and they seem to be doing a great job with it so far. With their Killington Insider blogTwitter, Facebook and YouTube pages, the mountain is able to easily communicate with their fans and customers.

UPDATE: Oops, we forgot to mention their Flickr and YFrog pages too.

We commented last week on their YouTube winter preview video that got us stoked for the upcoming season and just yesterday they released two new videos. The first is a fall foliage montage and the second, a summary of last Saturday’s Brewfest. You can check them out below.

Keep up the good work!

Killington Is "The Beast of the East" Again

October 8, 2009 6 comments

The Killington Insider blog is reporting today that Killington’s new marketing campaign is actually a return to their past glory, once again branding Killington as the “Beast of the East.”

Their more recent tag lines, “Endless Adventures,” “Rise Above” and “Nowhere Else,” now seem quaint as Killington seeks to reclaim its former glory for being the best ski resort on the East coast.  As they clearly state,

For too long, we’ve let other mountains compare themselves to Killington. Fact is no other resort in the Northeast can compare to Killington in terms of size, terrain, lifts and snowmaking. No other resort area has a five-mile long access road loaded with the best après, dining and nightlife you’ll find in ski country.

With the updated tag line also comes a new logo, which we think is a retro, yet stylishly modern design and a much needed improvement over their dated former logo.  Judge for yourself:

Old Logo

Old Killington Logo

New Logo

New Killington Logo

Now that’s something we’d actually wear on a t-shirt or hat.

In addition to their new tag line and logo, over the next few weeks, they will be rolling out a new web site, the new look and a new advertising campaign.  The ad campaign actually references thebeast.killington.com, but for now that site simply redirects to their main web site.  You can check out a couple of the ads below.

  • Free ticket to the 2010 Mini Skirt party if bought before 10/31/09
  • The pass is not valid for ticketed events or New Year’s Eve

Killington Brewfest A Success (If You Had a Ticket)

October 4, 2009 1 comment

Killington Brewfest 2009 Sells OutKillington Resort’s 14th annual Brewfest was held this past Saturday, October 3, 2009, and was a resounding success with over 1,500 tickets sold.  The initial plan was to sell 2,000 tickets, but when the rain forced the event to be held indoors, organizers had to scale back the number of tickets sold at the door.  This caused a couple of hundred people who didn’t pre-buy tickets to be turned away.  (We warned everyone!)

You can check out some of the photos from the event in Killington Resort’s Facebook gallery.

Want to be a snow bum? Now you can and get paid for it.

October 2, 2009 No comments yet

snow-bumWe’ve all dreamt about being a snow bum and spending the season skiing or riding, but unfortunately for most of us, a little thing called work gets in the way.  Well, Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, Canada wants to change all that.

They’re running the I Want to be a Snow Bum contest and the winner gets to spend three months being a snow bum at Sun Peaks.  This includes around $5000 cash, transportation, free lift tickets, housing, ski gear, ski or board equipment, and more. The only catch is that you have to ski or ride, go to special events (wine festival, terrain park activities, etc), blog, Tweet, post videos to YouTube and update Facebook with your daily escapades.  Ok, so it’s not really a catch, since most of you probably do this already, now you’re going to be doing it as part of your job, not sneaking around behind your boss’ back.

To enter, you have to create a 1 minute video, upload it to YouTube, and fill out an entry form on their site.  All entries must be received before November 15, 2009, so you’d better get moving.

Killington, want to start a similar contest? I’m sure you’d have people lining up to apply.
