The Times Argus is reporting that Sugarloaf Resort in Maine is planning to significantly expand their terrain, making it the largest ski area east of the Rocky Mountains and knocking Killington Resort out of the No. 1 spot for most skiable acreage.

Sugarloaf will begin clearing trees on Burnt Mountain which will add 270 acres of skiable terrain for next season and 655 acres in the next three years. This will give them the bragging rights for most skiable acres though Killington will still hold the title for most skier visits, most lifts, most trails and most miles of trails.

Killington better step up its game if it wants to retain the title of “Beast of the East.” Maybe it’s time to finish that Killington to Pico interconnect?

Or, how about adding a heated chairlift Killington?  The Canyons is going to be the first resort in the US to add a heated chair.  You could be the first in the East. Plus, we all know that it is much colder in Vermont than Utah.

I can’t even compare Sugarloaf to killington because sugarloaf is just amazing. It’s bigger than killington, it’s better and with larger acres to ride with more diversity….take a trip to sugarloaf and you will understand me…

yeah im sorry but Killington is like twice the size of sugarloaf. Oh yeah and Killington doesnt have lifts that fall apart sending hundreds, maybe thousands of people hurtling to the ground. Killington is way better. Get your facts straight!

You’re a dope, Bob. There’s a fact for you. Sugarloaf is vastly superior.

Even if this new expansion tales place…..No Comparison.
Take Sugarloafs upper snow fields, How often are they open.
Some skier’s think they’re a myth.

Killington has the best snow conditions in the East Period.

Not just relying on mother nature…….Anyone could be a contender on a powder day !

But when nature creates challenging conditions (Rain/Freeze & Thaw/freeze cycles) there’s Killington and no one in second place.

If you want reliable snow…….There is no question…….Killington !!!!

There can be no other Beast ……….. Ski the Beast if you dare

Bob why don’t you just shut your fat ass face. Sugarloaf is about 20 times better than killington and its not just for a bunch of rich people who get whatever the hell they want. Theres another fact for you.

Are you feeling stressed out right now, take a nap, suf he web. This blog is no place to lash out at someone like me dude. Dude, just be ice man, enjoy life while you can man!

Killington all the way– seriously? Why are we having this debate? Love Killington anyday over The Loaf in Maine. I mean, you can’t beat 2 heated gondolas with the Skyeship Gondi having a midstation, The Stash Terrain Park run by Burton Snowboards (only 6 Stash Parks in the world… GO BEAST!). Look at Outer Limits-Steepest and longest mogul run in the east. Classic and amazing New England Tree Skiing, the best uphill capacity of the East, more miles of terrain, and a top ten spot every year for the East by Ski Magazine when the loaf isnt even ranked… Plus, look at that 3,000+ ft vertical? What was that Sugarloaf fans? Not even 3,000 ft? Also, 6 peaks! Should be 7 though, because your Killington Pass gets you to Pico Mt. Literally nextdoor. (Pico also owned by Killington) Killington Pico Interconnect coming soon… Ski Bear Mountain on Devil’s Fiddle for an awesome little cliff drop and utter silence.

Killington>>>>Loaf

Killingtons terrain is just better. It’s bigger and the woods are amazing. The lifts are much faster and updated and the whole resort is just much nicer. It’s bull crap that sugarloaf is saying that. It’s not lift serviced, therefore should not be counted.

Anyone who thinks killington is better needs some help, I mean really, compare them. You can’t, Sugarloaf is WAY, WAY better!
